volcanochaser > The western ocean entry is now about 800 feet long along the coast and more than 100 feet wide on the now buried beach.  It is probably tens of feet thick.  It has covered much of the black sand beach in the small bay that it entered.  Nov 5, 2009

volcanochaser > Last view of the familiar cabin on the lava flats before it succumbed to the encroaching lava which had almost completely surrounded it in the last several days.

Thanks to the gracious owner of this cabin for allowing occasional visitors like myself to come into the cabin to rest and to seek refuge from the wind, rain and harsh sun.  It will remain in my thoughts for a long time.  Nov 3, 2009
